HARG Training – Supporting Advocacy Excellence
Development and learning are at the core of HARG's advocacy services, and HARG Training is now an approved City and Guilds training centre. HARG Training has been created to meet the learning and professional development needs of our advocacy workforce.
We were registered as a training centre with City & Guilds in November 2009, and have supported our 26 Independent Mental Capacity Advocates (IMCAs) through the NAQ using qualified in-house assessors. City and Guilds have described the Hampshire Advocacy approach as "ground breaking", as we are drawing on the skills within Hampshire Advocacy member schemes and providing opportunities for professional development across all the member projects.
HARG has invested in its members to develop and deliver the highest standards of advocacy provision across the county. Having staff trained in-house allows us to standardise advocacy services, to provide consistent advocacy support to people throughout Hampshire. We are now training an additional six advocates to become NAQ assessors, so as to be able to train many more advocates in the future. We plan to now build on the experience gained training our own workforce, and will ultimately soon also be providing a full range of advocacy training to external candidates. We are committed to becoming the leading training centre of advocacy throughout the county and a leading training centre nationally. Please keep an eye on the website, as we will be posting full information on HARG Training and courses available as this develops.
