Self-Advocacy - from strength to strength
Speaking up for yourself – self-advocating – is probably the most powerful and empowering form of advocacy. HARG organisations support / facilitate many different self-advocacy groups across the county, and the work of these groups is also recognised annually through the hugely enjoyable 'Self Advocacy Day' (bringing together 100+ self advocates from across Hampshire).
Self advocacy is one of the key parts of HARG's advocacy provision; we were, therefore, extremely happy when two of our members – Connect Advocacy and Choices Advocacy – were successful in their recent bid to support and provide Self Advocacy and client involvement services for people with Learning Disabilities in Portsmouth. Keep checking the website, as more information on self-advocacy will be added in the coming weeks.
