HARG: independent advocacy scheme across the county.

JUST ADVOCACY

Just Advocacy (or Community Partners as it was then known) started providing advocacy services for people with learning disabilities in South West Surrey in 1993.

Over the years we have built on our continuing success and now cover West Surrey, Bracknell and north East Hampshire.

North East Hampshire

We have worked in North East Hampshire since 2003. Initially we were involved in supporting people to have their say in the day services modernisation programme. Since 2004 we have been funded to provide 1:1 advocacy.

We have provided:

  • 3 self advocacy groups (one each in Aldershot, Fleet and Farnborough)
  • A self advocacy group based in a residential home
  • 1:1 professional advocacy
  • Assertiveness training for service users
  • Interview skills training for service users
  • 'Seeing the person' training – awareness raising, designed, planned and delivered in partnership with service users to residential staff
  • Work experience for service users on our magazine the 'Catalyst'
  • Advocacy specifically for parents who have a learning disability
