HARG: independent advocacy scheme across the county.

Membership info

There are three tiers of membership in HARG – trustee; member; and associate member. All three categories of membership are required to pay a small annual subscription as agreed by the trustees.

Trustees will be the co-ordinator or manager of a member scheme.

Trustees agree to:

  • Attend bi monthly trustee meetings
  • Play an active part in the running and planning of HARG and it's activities
  • Deal sensitively with information gleaned through their role and not use it to financially disadvantage any other member scheme
  • Keep matters discussed at trustee meetings confidential

Membership will be open to any advocacy project in Hampshire, Portsmouth or Southampton who is able to sign up to the HARG code of practice, statement of independence and advocacy standards.

Benefits of membership include:

  • Advantages of all the work HARG does to promote independent advocacy with statutory bodies and other organisations
  • Access to HARG resources and information
  • Support from HARG chief officer and other members on practice issues, funding, organisational policies etc
  • Invitation to bi annual networking meetings (including the Annual General Meeting)
  • Entry in the HARG brochure and other promotional material
  • Updates on advocacy news and issues concerning all client groups in bi annual newsletter

Associate membership will be open to any organisation or agency that is an ally of or has an interest in independent advocacy

Benefits of associate membership will include:

  • Access to HARG resources and information
  • Invitation to the Annual General Meeting
  • Updates on advocacy news and issues concerning all client groups in bi annual newsletter
