British Sign Language using advocacy for deaf people with mental health issues
HARG is currently supporting a small pilot project to provide invaluable advocacy support to deaf people who use British Sign Language (BSL) as their primary form of communication. Through the work of an experienced advocate – who is also a qualified BSL user – this unique project is able to provide direct advocacy (i.e. without the need for interpreters) to some potentially very vulnerable people in Hampshire. It is hoped and intended that this project will grow, as referrals and demand for the service to-date have far exceeded the service we are currently able to provide.
