Structure
Trustees
HARG is governed at present by a board of 6 trustees, each the Senior Manager of an independent advocacy organisation in a different part of the county. In addition to their ‘day-jobs’ – running separate, busy advocacy services –together they also bring to HARG many years of invaluable advocacy experience, and have each been instrumental in shaping and improving advocacy services locally, regionally and – in several instances – nationally.
| Amanda Kent | HARG Chair (Manager, Speakeasy Advocacy) |
| Amanda joined Speakeasy Advocacy as a volunteer in 2001, and became the manager in August 2003. Since then the organisation has grown significantly, with the staff team and volunteers now providing advocacy support to 10 times as many people as they were in 2003. Amanda has helped set up 2 x "Networks" which are community based projects in partnership with local services, supporting people to develop their self advocacy and independent living skills as well as accessing information and services. She has been chair of HARG trustees since November 2006, and was part of the writing team for some of the National Advocacy Qualification materials. She also set up and now co-ordinates the Hampshire IMCA service after, HARG won the contract in 2007. Prior to working in advocacy, Amanda had a brief spell in the private sector and also worked in the criminal justice system. | |
